Moisture and temperature conditions are an excellent habitat for fungi and underground termites.

Performed tests

Exposition to climatic agents
In order to test fungi proliferation behavior Smart Side non painted lining walls were outer exposed in angles of 45°and 90°.

The exposed wall in 45° accelerates three times the grades of exposure. It means that a single
year of exposure is equal to three seasons of an outer exposed wall in 90° angles.

This test allows predicting the product behavior during a long period of time. LP has been testing the product during six years, which is equivalent at least to twenty years of useful product life.

Outcomes
Every sample of Smart Side, even the exposed ones in 45° have behaved extremely well and without signal of structural damage.

Termite attacks
On the other hand we also exposed samples of Smart Side to the direct attack of the underground termite. Every sample of Smart Side, surrounded by non-treated test tubes, was put on a colony, million termites’ home. When the samples were verified three years later, the non-treated test tubes were totally destroyed, whereas those LP Smart Side protected with zinc borates didn't show structural damage. This is what we call PROVEN PROTECTION.
