Washing
          We recommend cleaning the dirt of the linings with hose and a soft hairbrush, and a solution of soft detergent. Rinse well, after washing the surface. Don't mix detergents that have ammonia with bleach. Do not use hydro washing to clean LP SmartSide products. The pressure that this type of devices provokes can destroy the painting of the lining surface and push the water towards inside or between boards.

Paint
           Retouches of painting will depend on the state of previous painting and its erosion. The frequency of retouches will depend on the climate and exposure, quality and the color of the chosen paint, as well as other factors such as application method and quantity of applied layers.

           It will be necessary to retouch the painting if the surface is full of stains, or if it has thin, porous or raked layer that doesn’t protect or cover the surface of the board, completely

Manipulation and Cuts
         To cut, nail or screw is always recommended to use glasses and appropriate security elements for the task to carry out. SmartSide products are firm and rigid. Therefore, they don't present major problems in their installation.

          The simple managing and transporting of LP SmartSide products has gained the builders confidence.

          On the other hand the LP SmartSide Lap 4.875 m length allows that its installation be quicker than other similar products.

         LP SmartSide products don't require special tools and they can be cut easily with a conventional circular saw.

Wall Preparation
        It is fundamental that the surface to be recovered be plumbed and aligned, because the lining copies the imperfections of it. Don't install external linings on curved , green structures or uneven structures

Climatic Barriers
         When installing external LP SmartSide linings, you will need dust and wind barriers or LP HouseWrap. In case that the lining settles directly on the stud it will be obligatory the use of these membranes, so as to assure the impenetrability of the housing.

Sealant
         Check the lining surface to detect silicone application fails. These circumstances may cause serious problems behind linings.

          If loose or cracked silicone exists it should be retired, then you have to clean the surface and put any type of high quality and flexible silicone following the indications of the manufacturers and later on repeat the process of painting.

          It is recommended to maintain a clear area free of vegetation at least 20 cm. around the perimeter of the housing and avoid that the watering systems wet the walls of the housing.
